Keynote Address to be delivered by Canadian Ambassador Anna Biolik

Canadian Ambassador to Mongolia Anna Biolik will deliver the Keynote Address at our  Investors Conference on the morning of September 15.  Canada's first resident ambassador in Mongolia, she has served since presenting her credentials to President N. Enkhbayar on September 2, 2008. Ambassador Biolik is one of  North America's foremost experts in Central Asian diplomacy.

Immediately prior to her appointment, Ambassador Biolik had served for two years as director of the Centre of Learning for International Affairs and Management of the Canadian Foreign Service Institute. From 2004 to 2006, she served as ambassador of Canada to the Republic of Kazakhstan, with concurrent accreditation to the Kyrgyz Republic and to the Republic of Tajikistan. During 2001 to 2004, she was consul general in St. Petersburg.

Ambassador Biolik first joined the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) in 1997, serving in Ottawa as director of the International Business Opportunities Centre and the Market Support Division. Previously, from 1984 to 1997, she worked for the House of Commons, the Secretary of State, the Department of Communications, the Governor General, Canada Post and Investment Partnerships Canada. Before entering government service, she taught at the University of Ottawa. 

 She received her BA [Literature and Philosophy] from the Lycée Copernic, Katowice, in 1971; her MA [French Studies] from the University of Cracow in 1975; and her PhD [Comparative Literature] from the University of Montreal in 1982. She is married to Terence Hargreaves.
