Canada’s Governor General to visit Ulaanbaatar, October 24-26 Prime Minister Stephen Harper on October 9 announced that His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, will make a state visit to Mongolia, October 24-26, as both nations mark the 40th anniversary of Canada-Mongolia relations and the fifth anniversary of the establishment of a Canadian embassy in Ulaanbaatar. This is the first-ever visit to Mongolia by a Canadian head of state. During his visit, the Governor General will meet with President Ts. Elbegdorj, senior government officials and leaders of civil society in both countries, with a view to strengthening bilateral relations and deepening commercial, educational and innovation ties. He will bring with him a delegation of prominent Canadians to reinforce the Government of Canada’s priorities in Asia. The delegation will also visit China on the same trip.
