of Canada will deliver keynote address on October 5

Registrants for our 14th Annual Investors Conference and Ikh Tenger Roundtable in Ulaanbaatar, October 4-5-6, have the option of signing up for a special one day visit by air to the Oyu Tolgoi mine in the South Gobi on October 7. Space is limited and will be filled on a first come, first served basis. The trip is only for conference registrants. The additional fee for the trip includes all air and ground transportation and meals. Contact [email protected] if you're interested.

When in full production, Oyu Tolgoi will be one of the three largest copper-gold mines in the world. Over 14,000 workers are now at work on the site, mostly Mongolians, and initial ore production is expected in 2012, a year ahead of schedule.

The deadline for all conference registrations is September 20, after which a late fee is assessed. NAMBC members receive a discount for multiple registrants from the same company. Our 2011 Investors Conference celebrates the 100th anniversary of Mongolia regaining its independence. The keynote address will be delivered by Canadian Ambassador Greg Goldhawk who took up his post in Ulaanbaatar in August 1010. Our opening reception on October 4 will be at the Mongolian National Modern Art Gallery.

The Ikh Tenger Roundtable -- hosted last year by President Ts. Elbegdorj when Prime Minister S. Batbold was in Ottawa -- has been a tradition since 1998. Other program features include panels on mining and natural resource development; infrastructure opportunities; the Mongolian legal system and dispute settlement options; and an overview of Mongolian politics looking towards the 2012 parliamentary elections.

The politics/elections segment will be chaired by D. Jargalsaikhan, host of Mongolia's most popular TV public affairs program, "Jargal de facto", and a widely-read columnist. He received his MBA from the University of Denver after serving as the first chairman of Mongolia's Foreign Investment and Foreign Trade Agency (FIFTA). He also heads Xac Bank's corporate leasing department.
