Ambassador Altangerel presents credentials to Governor General Johnston

Radnaabazar Altangerel has formally taken up his duties as Ambassador of Mongolia to Canada after presenting his credentials on May 5 to The Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, at Rideau Hall, the Governor General’s official residence in Ottawa.  Ambassador Altangerel conveyed “warm greetings”  from President Ts. Elbegdorj and promised continuing efforts to expand Mongolia’s partnership with Canada. The Governor General, Canada’s Head of State, congratulated Altangerel, wished him success in his mission, and recalled with pleasure his state visit to Ulaanbaatar last year. Also attending the ceremony was Senator Joseph A. Day, chairman of the Canada-Mongolia Friendship Group in Parliament, Mongolian Embassy officials and representatives of the Mongolian community in Canada.

Ambassador Altangerel has had a distinguished career in the Mongolian foreign service. Immediately prior to his nomination last year, he was Director of the State Diplomatic Protocol Department. Previously, he was Ambassador to France, Spain, Portugal and Monaco and Permanent Delegate of Mongolia to UNESCO. Altangerel graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations in 1990, the Graduate Institute of International Studies in 1994 (Geneva), and Ecole Nationale d`Administration in 2001 (Paris). He speaks Mongolian, French, Russian and English.
