Investors Conference speakers now include Foreign Minister Lu. Bold plus Dr. P. Ochirbat Foreign Minister Lu. Bold will address the NAMBC’s 17th Annual Investors Conference at the Best Western Tuushin Hotel, Ulaanbaatar, October 7-8. He joins an outstanding roster of speakers that includes His Excellency Dr. P. Ochirbat, the first President of Mongolia and currently a Justice of the Constitutional Court; His Excellency Zandaakhuu Enkhbold, Chairman of the State Great Khural, Mongolia’s unicameral parliament; Munkhbat Nanjid, CEO of the Development Bank of Mongolia; His Excellency Oyun Erdenebulgan, Vice Minister of Mining; Ya. Batsuuri, CEO of Erdenes Tavan Tolgoi LLC; B. Byambasaikhan, executive secretary of the Prime Minister’s 100 Days Economic Council; John M. Andersen, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce in charge of Global Markets; and US Ambassador Piper A. W. Campbell, who will deliver the conference keynote address. Former Canadian Ambassador Anna Biolik and former US Ambassador Pam Slutz, chairman of the NAMBC, will be panel moderators. Mr. Bold has been Minister of Foreign Affairs since 2012 and has served as a Member of Parliament for a total of 14 years. He previously was Minister of Defense and Chairman of the Mineral Resources and Petroleum Authority of Mongolia and is a former president of the Mongolian Bankers Association. He was awarded the Order of the Polar Star in Mongolia and Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. Mr. Bold graduated from the Trade Union University Bernau in Berlin, Germany. Based in Washington DC, Secretary Andersen is responsible for the Commerce Department’s global efforts to assist US businesses in international markets. Dr. Ochirbat is a mining engineer by education and background who guided his country through the first seven difficult years of democracy. He was the first president to be elected by popular vote and the first Mongolian leader ever to officially visit the United States. Chairman Enkhbold has served continuously as a member of parliament since 2005. He was twice Chairman of the State Property Committee, 1996-1999 and 2004-2005, and is a former Secretary General of the Democratic Party. Enkhbold earned an International MBA at the University of Denver. Ambassador Campbell has been the US Ambassador to Mongolia since 2012. She previously served in southern Iraq, opening the US Consulate General in Basrah. Previously, she was Chief of Staff to the first-ever Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources (current Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew). Program segments will discuss the current state of the Mongolian economy; the future of mining; trade, FDI and the Third Neighbor policy; and new opportunities to turbocharge the economy. Lunch on October 7 is included in the registration fee. The NAMBC’s 2014 Investors Conference is the oldest, continuously-held international investors’ forum in or about Mongolia, convened annually in UB since 1998 and the only one run on a non-profit basis.
