NAMBC Chairman Pamela Slutz is awarded Order of the Polar Star

Ambassador Pam Slutz, Chairman of the NAMBC since 2013, was awarded the Order of the Polar Star, Mongolia’s highest decoration,by Ambassador Bulgaa Altangerel on April 21 at the Mongolian Embassy in Washington, DC., in recognition of her many contributions to improving North America-Mongolia relations over the course of her career. Chairman Slutz was taken completely by surprise when Ambassador Altangerel called her to the podium at the embassy reception honoring the 25th anniversary of the NAMBC on the last day of the 2015 Annual General Meeting. Pam was US Ambassador to Mongolia during 2003-2006, later serving as Ambassador to Burundi. During her three-year tenure as ambassador, she helped host President and Mrs. George W. Bush in UB in 2005, the first-ever visit to Mongolia of a sitting U.S president. She also negotiated the 2004 bilateral Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA). Pam is a graduate of Hollins University (B.A., Politics) and the University of Hawaii (M.A., Asian Studies and Political Science).
