Wagner Asia receives US Secretary of State’s Award for Corporate Excellence

Wagner Asia Equipment LLC, an NAMBC Board of Directors Member Company, has received the prestigious Secretary of State’s Award for Corporate Excellence. Wagner was one of three US companies to receive the 2014 award, which has for 16 years annually recognized US-owned businesses overseas that play vital roles as good corporate citizens in supporting sustainable development, respect for human and labor rights, environmental protection, open markets, and transparency. Wagner was nominated by US Ambassador Piper Campbell. The three winners were chosen from among nine finalists.

Wagner Asia was honored by Secretary of State John Kerry at a State Department ceremony on December 9, 2014. for "its commitment to public-private partnerships with Mongolia’s local and national governments to protect the environment, including through planting more than 900 trees; conducting workshops for students on environment and ecology; implementing a project to build a community garden; and rehabilitating a toxic waste site…Wagner employs persons with disabilities and provides employees with medical care and generous financing for housing.” Former Wagner Equipment Vice President Bob Barrows, who was in charge of establishing Wagner’s first presence in Mongolia in 1996, accepted the award in behalf of the company. Barrows thanked Ambassador Campbell and her predecessors as well as the NAMBC for their valuable assistance over the past 18 years.
